As a Veteran of the United States Armed Forces you may be eligible for many different flight training options. Northeast Helicopters has been helping veterans achieve their flight training goals for over 30 years. Post 9/11 Non-Degree Flight Training
This is a great resource for beginning your career in aviation. The Post 9/11 program has been revamped by the VA recently and continues to be an excellent program
If you are interested in using your Post 9/11 GI Bill for flight training, you are eligible for up to $37,633.62 in benefits. Whether you are new to the aviation industry, looking for a career change or if you are already a pilot and would like to add on to existing ratings, the Post 9/11 GI Bill can help.
Note: With the recent changes to the Post 9/11 program, it is still a better program than the old Montgomery GI Bill. In addition NEH is one of the few flight schools still able to offer Sallie Mae, a career as a professional helicopter pilot is certainly attainable.

Vocational Rehabilitation Flight Training
For veterans awarded service related disability, Vocational Rehabilitation may be available for education benefits towards flight training. You can apply for Vocational Rehabilitation online. It will be up to you and your Vocational Rehabilitation counselor to determine if this is the best option. Use the link below to apply for Vocational Rehabilitation online. Montgomery GI Bill
The Montgomery GI Bill will pay for up to 60% of FAA minimums for any rating excluding the Private Pilot Rating. Please contact us for additional information.
Getting off the Ground
So you’re thinking about becoming a helicopter pilot. Now what do you do?
- TRY: In a demo flight, you’ll take the controls and actually fly some basic maneuvers with your instructor’s help
- TRAIN: After enrolling, you’ll be matched up with an instructor for one-on-one ground and flight training
- TEACH: You start your career as a Certificated Flight Instructor, teaching students how to fly, while building experience
